Bald Eagle watching

25/01/2014
I must admit to not doing much photography the past few weeks as it has just been so unbelievably cold. This weekend though I got to tick off another photography bucket list bird as we spent a day at Starved Rock State Park watching Bald Eagles. The eagles migrate here from Canada in the winter as this one spot on the Illinois River does not freeze due to a dam. We saw about 30 birds including young eagles. They are truly magnificent especially on the wing. For the first time ever I filled a 16GB card with images and it has taken a couple of days to edit them. My favourite 5 are now in the birds section of the gallery. We also hiked to a frozen waterfall which was spectacular. There are a couple of images of that in the ice and snow gallery section.
